Mechanical Technician End date 31 December 2022 Selby Are you an experienced Mechanical Technician with experience both mechanically and electrically Are you looking to work on a decommissioning project to clear the site for future BECCS projectsThen this role may be for you.We are looking to recruit two experienced Mechanical Technicians into our Decommissioning team based at Selby. These contracts will have an end date of 31 December 2022 and they are based on site at Selby, working a Monday to Friday working pattern.What you need to knowThese opportunities are open to Drax Power Station employees only and will, due to the short-term duration, lead to an agreed redundancy at the end of December 2022. If you are successful, you will be required to sign a letter committing you to leave thecompany by reason of redundancy as part of the offerWhat youll be doingAs part of the station decommissioning, there is a requirement to carry out mechanical works to safely decommission and disconnect systems including FCD common plant, Unit 4, 5 and 6 FGD absorbers, FGD compressed air systems, North BFO Systems and the movementof North compressor house to South end of the station, reconfigure, divert and disconnect these and other non FGD services to support the next stage of demolition to clear the site for future BECCS projectsAs a Mechanical Technician, your role will be to support the associated enabling projects and you will also be assisting in the access requirements for electrical and instrument works which includes tracing services both mechanically and Electrical and C&Ibeing supervised by the area leadsThe team are also required to provide an air gap (cut cables & pipes) on buildings that are being demolished from structures/services that are staying. The demolition contractor requires that all vessels and pipework are opened, vented, drained along theirlength at low points ensuring safe removal of residue as well as disconnected/cut.What youll needYou must have good, sound experience of working within a Mechanical & Electrical role and experience to undertake the maintenance activities associated with the above details. You will also need to of served a recognised apprenticeship and be qualified toa minimum level of NVQ level 3 or equivalent.You be a good team player, bringing a can do attitude to get stuck into the role to really add value to the decommissioning teamWere at our best when we share inspiration and insight right across Drax, and search for new ideas and ways of working.
