Job Description

Software Engineer | Cheshire | 37.5 hours per week | £35,000 - £42,000Guardian Controls is an electronics company specialising in the design and manufacture of energy efficient controls and monitoring to the refrigeration industry in the UK, Europe and internationally.We are growing and ambitious in our plans for the future and are looking to recruit a Software Engineer who will focus on embedded industrial software with control systems encompassing analogue IO, digital IO, VSDs, sensors and actuators. The right candidatewill have 4-5 years commercial experience and be keen to evolve and apply their skills further.You will work Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 5:00pm. There will be some flexibility in the number of hours worked and working days for the right candidate. The probationary period is 4 months, once completed this will be a permanent position.You Should Ideally Be Capable Of

  • Excellent C and C++ programming skills.
  • Java, Javascript and HTML desired.
  • Assembly language with embedded Atmel and Microchip microcontrollers
  • Good Understanding of Windows development with C/C++ and MFC.
  • C# desired but not essential.
  • Good understanding of serial communications interfaces
  • Serial protocols such as Modbus desired
  • Serial device interfaces such as I2C and SPI desirable.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack desired (TCP/IP, DHCP etc.)
  • Understanding of socket-based communications (TCP / UDP and higher layers: FTP, HTTP.
  • Knowledge of lower layers of TCP-IP stack is desirable, but not essential.
  • Understanding of cloud-based services and communications.
  • Understanding of WIFI communications
  • Experience with small footprint embedded systems development
  • Understanding of control systems theory with appreciation for industrial environment.
  • Understanding of SVN and git source control systems
Role ResponsibilitiesTaking direction from our head of engineering you will be responsible for the development of architecture, design, implementation, test and roll out of software for control systems in the refrigeration industry, both UK and Internationally. Working on arange of existing and new products, in varying hardware platforms to implement new control systems or modify and release improved features for existing products. You will work on small footprint embedded micro controllers with our in-house designed hardwarewith software interfacing to the hardware, reading sensors and controlling actuators. Our products are becoming more internet connected, an understanding of TCP-IP would be desirable.Why You Should Apply
