The greatest proportion of our 28,500 buildings and structures were constructed pre-1919 and these have high heritage value, with a rangeof uses - from offices to workshops, mansions to cottages. Our crafts people are an integral part of looking after our assets, using their skills to conserve and maintain our buildings and structures, and being part of creating a lasting legacy.Your training will be based at a local college to the site with study on a day release basis.Youll be based at our traditional craft workshop within the grounds of Cotehele, this workshop helps to produce Specialist Craft joinery for the SW region.Youll also work on some of our other centuries-old buildings within Cornwall, which are some of the most important in the country with great historic and architectural significance. Because each building is a one-off, you will learn something from eachjob as no job is the same within our buildings. Youll build up a wide range of Joinery/Carpentry techniques to deal with the interesting challenges youll come across within your daily role, whether its making a diamond-shaped window frame, bespoke oak joineryor conservation joinery repairs to a much-loved historic place.Your apprenticeship is part of the National Trusts Hamish Ogston Foundation Heritage Crafts Apprenticeship programme which has been generously funded by the Hamish Ogston Foundation. What youll be doing Youll be working with your Trust Line Manager/ Mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, as part of the wider team, and working outdoors in all weathers. Youll attend, and prepare for, monthly review meetings with your Provider Mentor and be accountablefor your progression concerning the Apprenticeship Standard. Youll be required to complete and upload relevant evidence to the appropriate e-portfolio system to document your progress and maintain timesheets for Off-the-Job training. Youll abide by the Trustsways of working and uphold our Values and Behaviours.
