Job Description

The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UK’s largest trade unions.A vacancy exists for a Senior Reporter, Magazines Editorial, and Information Administrator based at the Union’s Head Office.What we Offer:

The principal duties are: to undertake reporting and sub-editing for the Union’s magazines and the preparation of information in support of the work of the Media and Communications Department, contributing to the provision of an effectivecommunications service to the UnionThe successful applicant will possess: experience in reporting/writing for printed/online publications; knowledge of Adobe Creative Software and in particular InDesign Microsoft Office products and a wide range of software packages, capabilityto learn new IT skills/new software packages and able to use social media; the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people by telephone, in writing and face to face; the ability to produce copy in a clear and succinct manner, maintainingthe accuracy of the facts; awareness of the impact of current political affairs and current industrial issues; the ability to make sound judgements and know when to refer more complex queries and an ability to work with minimum supervision.An application pack can be downloaded from here by clicking on the apply’ button.The closing date is noon on Monday, 20 November 2023.Interviews are expected to take place on Tuesday, 28 November 2023.CVs are not accepted.
