Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative nurse or physiotherapist to join our integrated community respiratory teamYou will be providing evidence based care to patients with chronic lung conditions; and clinical leadership in the development and delivery of this practitioner led team. In addition there will be a requirement to support the other teams within the wider community respiratory team as per the service requirementsYou will have significant post-registration respiratory experience to help you provide high quality care to patients with complex respiratory needs, including COPD, Bronchiectasis and Interstitial Lung Disease.You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients, the public and professional staff across the health and social care economy and deliver a high quality, specialist nursing service care in both the hospital and community settings by:

  • Providing expert communication to ensure patients understand their diagnosis and treatment plans ensuring appropriate referral to other specialist services where necessary
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessment of patients’ needs and assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care
  • Developing specialised skills to provide specific nursing interventions such as symptom control, breathlessness management, fatigue and energy conservation management and anxiety management, spirometry
  • Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team co-ordinating, participating and presenting patients in case discussions, recommending and directly influencing the best course of treatment
  • Provide clinical expertise and knowledge to others when managing complex situations
  • Developing advanced clinical skills in history taking, clinical examination, assessment and treatment of respiratory disease
    • You must possess excellent interpersonal skills and proven leadership qualities, as well as the drive, vision and initiative to motivate others and develop this service. Excellent decision making skills and evidence of CPD are essential and you must also have experience of working in both respiratory care and a multi-professional environment.You will join a team of dedicated professionals who are supported by a respiratory consultant, who are committed to providing high quality respiratory care.
