Job Description

Are you an experienced procurement professional who would like to join our established Digital & IT category team as a Principal Category ManagerYou will lead a small team and take ownership for the delivery of at least one of our Digital & IT category frameworks. Developing specific strategic sourcing programs/ strategies across our client base and being responsible for the delivery of several keyprojects.We can offer great career progression opportunities, ability to be based anywhere across the UK, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs and training and development opportunities.This position is predominantly home based, but there is an expectation to attend meetings at our Salford office once/ twice per month.What youll be doing:

  • Work closely within the Digital and IT Category to ensure effective management and delivery of portfolio framework agreements
  • Review and negotiate draft contracts for the category area
  • Lead and develop a small team of Category Managers and Buyers
  • Pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets
  • Analyse data and identify areas of cost savings and operational improvements to advise procurement plans
  • Supporting the Senior Category Manager with the management of key areas of improvement such as review of purchasing procedures, benchmarking, and day-to-day customer and supplier interactions
What you’ll bring:
  • Experience of working within IT markets (or sub-categories) and knowledge of their supply chains
  • Public Sector procurement experience
  • Knowledge of UK Public Contracts Regulations (PCR 2015), and ideally experience in operating in compliance with these
  • Familiarity with contract Terms and Conditions, and ideally experience in drafting and negotiating these
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of managing small teams
  • CIPS Level 5 or working towards
It would be great if you had:
  • Project Management qualification - PRINCE 2 or APM
  • Experience and/or knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions
  • Experience and/or knowledge or working within the NHS
