Job Description

Housekeeper- Salford M6 8HD.£9.65 per hour plus accrued holiday payCan you bring your housekeeping skills and knowledge to The Pennine Acute Hospital Trust Would you like to be part of a team that works well together, always there to help each other If you answered yes, then The Pennine Acute Hospital Trust would love to hear from you This is a full-time housekeeping role, based at Salford Royal NHS, Stott Lane, Salford, M6 8HD. This is a Band 2 position paying £9.65 per hour.Hours: 37.5hrs per week Monday-Sunday running between 7am - 3pm.Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with agreed procedures which aim to reduce the risk of acquired infections.
  • Abide by the strict National Colour Coding System for cleaning within a healthcare environment.
  • To co-operate when new methods of working are introduced with the aim of improving work schedules and frequencies.
  • Replenish all hand towels, toilet rolls, soaps etc as and when required.
  • To operate all mechanical equipment i.e., floor cleaning machines, steam cleaners and vacuum systems in line with safe operating instructions and report any defects to the housekeeping supervisors.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the fabric of the buildings by reporting defects and faults to ensure a safe working environment.
  • To be responsible for providing a patient beverage service throughout the day, and to assist nursing staff with patient meal services at lunch and supper as necessary.
  • To ensure the ward has adequate stocks of provisions, crockery, cutlery and linen and to report shortfalls to the relevant departments.
  • To empty and remove all clinical, domestic and recyclable waste ensuring waste segregation and identification procedures are followed at all times.
  • To take responsibility for the safe storage of all cleaning products and materials, ensuring hazardous chemicals are locked safely within cleaning trollies and resource cupboards.
  • To undertake isolation room cleaning in line with enhanced and terminal cleaning procedures.
  • To undertake thorough ward bay cleans on a weekly basis or when required and instructed.
  • To carry out curtain changes as and when required or instructed.
  • To ensure a clean uniform is worn at all times when on duty and to use relevant Personal Protective Equipment i.e. gloves, aprons and non-slip footwear in accordance with the Trusts PPE Policy and Infection Control guidelines.
  • Assist in the covering of cleaning duties across the hospital site on the request of the Housekeeping Supervisors.
Skills required:
  • Cleaning experience (essential)
  • Knowledge of COSHH (desirable, not essential)
  • Knowledge of colour coding system (desirable, not essential)
  • Both written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Work as part of a team
  • Take responsibility for their own work
  • Be able to work unsupervised
