Job Description

Job Title: Occupational TherapistGrade: Band 5Trust: Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS TrustLocation: Bramley Street Rehab UnitHours: Mon - Fri 9-5Pay rate: £15.67-£25.07 (uplifts for nights/weekends/Bank Hols)End Date: September 2024Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to fulfil Band 5 Occupational Therapist opportunities within the team at Bramley Street Rehab unit under a long-term placement contract. Are you a dynamicand enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills looking to embark on a new opportunity within the NHS If so, we would like to hear from you today!The post holder will ideally have previous NHS experience and will be working within the multidisciplinary team on the rehabilitation unit. They must have experience working with complex mental and physical health needs. They must be able to demonstrateinitiative and prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.High levels of both written and oral communication are essential to this post with the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers/relatives. The post holder mustbe able to communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives as well as within their own team & colleagues.The postholder will manage their own caseload of patients and provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, triage, and management/treatment of patients whilst maintaining the associated records. The right applicant will be able to work efficiently and effectivelyas both an autonomous practitioner and as part of a wider MDT with use of their own initiative to readjust and amend plans as per the patient’s needs. The postholder will be expected to deliver programmes of supported patient rehabilitation, in ways that facilitatebehavioural change, optimise individuals physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence.Role Details:

  • To contribute to the delivery of services to meet the trust objectives
  • Deliver relevant evidence-based care cluster pathway interventions
  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of ward activity interventions
  • Engage with carers and significant others in response to identified needs
  • To contribute to monitoring the quality of work in own service, through active involvement in clinical supervision and reporting any performance/quality issues and related risks.
  • To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out duties, adhering to departmental policy and ensuring the safe use of equipment by others through teaching, training and supervision of practice
  • To be responsible for maintaining own competency and self-development
  • To contribute to monitoring the quality of work in own service area, through active involvement in clinical supervision and reporting any performance/quality issues and related risks

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Hold a Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Be HCPC registered
  • Have previous NHS experience
  • Hold a full, current driving licence and have access to their own vehicle for work purposes
  • Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines
