Job Description

Assistant Transport ManagerGreater Manchester £28,500 - £32,500 plus benefits Monday to Friday (Rotating: 5am - 1pm & 1pm - 9pm)Following a period of incredible growth my client, a supplier of consumables to the retail industry, now has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Transport Manager to join their team.Our client offers a generous salary, market leading benefits and excellent career progression opportunities.Role Purpose:To support the Regional Transport Manager by delivering Logistics & Service excellence. To ensure that they are operating efficiently & effectively whilst controlling costs in line with budgets & expectations. Collaborating with all departments to ensurewe maximise customer profitability and service levels through KPI, cost management and lean processes. To assist in the development of a sustainable Transport strategy for the future.Duties include:

  • Champion operational Compliance, Health, Safety, and Environment.
  • Responsible for smooth running of day to day Logistics service.
  • Provide support and cover to Logistics Team as and when required.
  • Own and maintain all transport operating systems.
  • Assist in creating an environment of continuous improvement & learning.
  • Ownership and understanding of all Logistics aspects for each customer.
  • Supply cover and build a robust succession plan for Logistics Teams under you remit to ensure clear progression program is in place.
  • Ensure team are engaged delivering the logistics communication plan holding regular 1-2-1s and team meetings.
  • Deliver backhaul operation and increased revenue.
  • Ensure all transport systems are up to date with all relevant data at all times 100% Compliant at all times.
  • Generate KPI information in an accurate and timely manner.
Skills & Experience required:
  • CPC National (or working towards)
  • IOSH Certificate (or working towards)
  • Proven Transport expertise at an operational level, within a logistics environment.
  • Proven experience in delivering Logistics operational excellence in a supply chain logistical business organisation.
  • Proven track record of Transport operation in a fast-paced warehousing and distribution environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of Road Transport Law, Operators Licencing and undertakings, and transport Compliance requirements EU Tachograph and WTD legislation.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing a high volume of activity.
  • Experience working with customer specific KPIs.
  • Experience in delivering Logistics budget/weekly P&L.
  • Experience in implementing, successful change.
  • Support Logistics projects management.
  • Excellent IT skills, good verbal and written presentation skills, confidence in dealing with operations and customers
