Job Description

A leading polymer development business is looking to appoint a Senior R&D Polymer Chemist into its technical team to lead the development and testing of new polymer formulations. Their specialist polymers are used in synthetic medical devices to help improvethe end users quality of life.To be considered you should ideally hold a PhD or Masters in Polymer chemistry and possess previous experience in a relevant, commercial R&D role and have proven experience in the formulation, polymerisation, and characterisation of polymers.Key Responsibilities:

  • Review background literature and devise technical strategies for new formulation developments.
  • Plan, organize and execute projects within given timelines.
  • Conduct formulation and polymerisation trials to produce novel polymeric materials.
  • Conduct polymer characterisation using a variety of techniques.
  • Record experiments and information according to the Companys Design & Development Quality control System.
  • Provide written and verbal update reports.
Key Skills & Requirements:
  • PhD or Masters in Polymer chemistry or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in an industrial/commercial Research & Development environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the chemistry of polymers & experience in the formulation, polymerisation, and characterisation of polymers.
  • Skilled in Polymer characterisation techniques including Residuals, Extractables, Tensile, and Spectrophotometry.
  • Experience with Polymers for use in Medical Devices would be highly advantageous.
  • Some knowledge of Acrylic based polymer systems.
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000Benefits: 25 Days + Banks - Company pension - EV scheme - Cycle to work scheme - Free parking onsite - Life assurance Hours: 37.5 Hours, Monday - FridayRole: Full-time, Permanent Location: Saffron Walden, Essex
