We have multiple opportunities to join our team as a Research Assistant.About the role:In this laboratory based role you will be responsible for performing either routine techniques in a high throughput environment or niche processes in a bespoke environment. Working as part of a team you will produce quality data within defined timeframes and assist with the everyday running of the laboratory. You will have a strong understanding of the team product portfolio and the scientific theory underpinning the processes.You will be working for the DNA Pipelines department which has a central role within the Institute, delivering data to our faculty and external collaborators over a range of techniques and platforms. DNA library construction is carried out using various liquid handlers such as: TTP Labtech mosquito, Agilent Bravo, Hamilton and Beckman robotics. There is also manual library construction involving intensive use of single channel pipettes. The libraries are then sequenced on Illumina Sequencing instruments: MiSeq, HiSeq 2500, HiSeq 4000, HiSeq X and NovaSeq, or go for Long Read Sequencing on PacBio and Oxford Nanopore.Working Patterns:Two working patterns are available; Wednesday to Sunday, or Saturday to Wednesday.Full and part time applications will be considered equally (pt 30 hours per week/ft 37 hours per week) Essential Skills
