Postdoc Fellow – Molecular Mechanisms of PARP InhibitorsCambridge, UKCompetitive salary on offerAbout the Program: We’re currently looking for talented scientists to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. From our centre in Cambridge, UK, you’ll be in a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the start. You’ll take part in a comprehensive training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories. It’s a newly expanding programme spanning a range of therapeutic areas across a wide range of disciplines.Moreover, you will have the support of a leading academic advisor, who will provide the guidance and knowledge you need to develop your career.About the Opportunity:Looking for a rewarding industry postdoc You may have just found it.Olaparib and other PARPi have successfully entered the clinic, yet, the understanding of their molecular mechanism of action has not yet been fully elucidated.We seek a talented postdoc who will work in a multidisciplinary environment to elucidate the mechanism of action of PARPi using unique tools available at AstraZeneca and cutting-edge capabilities in our DNA Damage Response (DDR) team. The findings have the unique potential to be translated to the clinic and to greatly accelerate your professional development and future opportunities.This your chance to make an impact with your research and to advance your career!Your research will take place at AstraZeneca’s site in Chesterford Research Park (Cambridge, UK), where the Bioscience DDR team is located; you will benefit and learn from supervision from the AstraZeneca DDR team as well as a top academic co-supervisor in the field. You will also have the opportunity to closely interact with our global multidisciplinary teams and expand your skillset.Don’t miss this out on this opportunity!Essential Education and Experience:

  • PhD in molecular and cell biology or pharmacology, preferentially in the DNA Damage Response field.
  • Oncology knowledge, with an understanding of cell signalling.
  • Proven ability to independently design and execute incisive experiments and interpret results.
  • Strong scientific track-record of published or accepted papers in well recognized peer-reviewed journals, oral and/or poster presentations at scientific meetings.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in a range of in vitro biochemical, cell biology and pharmacology-related skills that can be applied to DDR and oncology research. Examples of these are growth inhibition/toxicity assays, biomarkers in DDR, cell cycle analysis by high-content imaging, flow cytometry, DNA combing, iPOND.
  • Experience in PARP biology and the use of PARPi will represent a clear advantage for the position
  • Broad range of knowledge of pre-clinical models to explore DNA damage response biology, from in vitro cell line culture to in vivo mouse xenografts and
  • ex-vivo sample analysis.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines
  • This is a 3-year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1-year extension which will be merit based.
