Job Description

Mechanical Assembly Technician Location: Saffron Walden (able to drive)Job Type:9am-5pm Monday - FridaySalary: Up to £30kAbout the Client:Our client is a leading provider of world-class scientific products to customers both in the UK and around the world. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team that aims to develop a culture of innovation, excellent customer service and employee engagement.We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Mechanical Assembly Technician to join theirProduction Team and play a crucial role in the assembly of our in-house products.As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and testing a range of scientific products. You will work closely with the Production Manager and collaborate with various teams, including R&D and Supply Chain, to ensure the highestquality of our products.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test current products, including mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, following detailed manufacturing method files.
  • Conduct necessary quality and performance checks and tests during the assembly process, following detailed procedures.
  • Complete all required process documentation associated with the assembly and testing of products.
  • Support troubleshooting with components or assembled products.
  • Assist in identifying areas for improvement in current assembly processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Manage assembly and testing procedures and documents, and work on associated process improvements.
  • Check product sub-components to ensure quality.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement, lean, and 5S activities to maximize productivity.
  • Maintain close liaison with the Supply Chain team to ensure adequate sub-component stock levels.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team in the handover of new assembled products.
  • Provide pre-production and post-production support in the glassblowing workshop if required.
Requirements:Qualifications and Skills:
  • 2 to 5 years minimum working experience in a mechanical assembly environment.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis in a mechanical environment.
  • Strong practical skills with the capability to carry out basic wiring, soldering, and crimping.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Fully IT literate with standard Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Word and Excel).
  • Ideally, skills and experience in electro-mechanical, electronics, electrical engineering, or similar.

  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
  • Well-organized and tidy, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and partners.
  • Willing to get stuck in at all levels and undertake whatever is required to complete the job.
  • Capable of working as part of a team and able to use your own initiative when working individually.
  • Diligent attitude with the determination to see things through to completion.
  • Good timekeeper and reliable.
