Job Description

Lab TechnicianSaffron WaldenWe currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Lab Technician, to join an existing busy team. Duties will be to manage all aspects of the day to day running of the laboratory.£20,000-£25,000 (DOE)Location: Saffron WaldenWorking days: Monday to FridayWorking hours: 8am to 5pmStart Date: ImmediatelyJob Type: PermanentDuties and responsibilities of Loading/Production Room:

  • Production, management and continuous development of routine analysis and chemical addition schedules
  • Analysis by wet titration methods
  • Analysis via Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) equipment
  • Conduct routine Deposit Characteristics assessment using, Hull cell & Bent Cathode test
  • Record statistical data (SPC) and contribute to continuous improvement through critical analysis
  • Ensure the Effluent Control System meets all requirements of ISO14001
  • Analyse effluent, initiate mitigations as required, and report to key contacts
  • Provide support to the production team
  • Manage storage and disposal of hazardous waste as per environmental legislation
  • Maintain laboratory and associated equipment to the highest level
  • Contribute towards plating/process trials and investigations
  • Optimize analysis schedule to transition to routine additions wherever possible based on workload through tanks and production results
  • Coordinate with plating shop supervisor and plating technical support to resolve any process issues and ensure tanks are maintained to ideal ranges for production requirements
  • Support implementation of new processes, chemistries, and improvement projects
  • Support lean and continuous improvement strategies
  • Maintain best health & safety practices in the lab and throughout all work undertaken
  • When requested, provide advice on best health & safety practices concerning chemistry in stock
  • Ability to read MSDS and Technical data sheets and apply findings to work practices
  • Liaise with supply houses for technical support
Essential skills & experience:
  • Highly organised with the ability to work to structured schedules and deadlines
  • Proactive in analysing data trends and implement process improvement
  • Excellent communication on all levels
  • Good time keeping and willing to work overtime as necessary
  • Ability to build rapport with colleagues
