Job Description

Area Sales Manager - Carpets & Contract FlooringJob Title: Area Sales Manager - Carpet & Contract FlooringIndustry Sector: Flooring Retailers, Flooring Distributors, Retailers, Flooring, Carpets, Vinyl Flooring, LVT, Carpet Tiles, Independent Wholesalers, Sole Traders, Adhesives, Matting, Flooring Contractors, Contract Flooring and Floor Preparation ProductsAreas to be covered: South East (CO, SS, CB, CM, AL, SG & MK)Remuneration: £30,000-£38,000 + £12,000 bonusBenefits: Fully expensed hybrid company car & benefitsThe role of the Area Sales Manager - Carpet & Contract Flooring will involve:

  • Field sales position selling a distributed range of carpets, vinyl floor coverings and accessories such as: flooring preparation, entrance matting, safety flooring, carpet tiles, adhesives, underlay and fitting tolls
  • Responsible for approx. 200 customer accounts
  • 40% flooring contractors, 30% focussed in flooring retailers and 30% sole traders
  • Initially responsible for circa £2.2m turnover
  • Project values can vary from £100-£30,000+ and include hotels, hospitality, airports, commercial buildings etc.
  • 90% account management role, although initially there may be a focus on winning back customers lost this year from poor field sales representation
  • Up to 7 customer visits per week
  • Ensuring all quotations and enquiries are carried out in timely fashion, avoiding delays, to help increase a positive customer experience
The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager - Carpet & Contract Flooring with:
  • Field sales experience
  • Either sold to or worked for retail showrooms, merchants or flooring contractors
  • Product knowledge can be taught, however any knowledge of flooring or interior products may be advantageous
  • Street wise mentality/ strong personality (some of the carpet retailers and contractors can be awkward to manage)
  • Open to a flooring/ carpet retail showroom background, looking for first step into field sales
  • Experience of having sold into flooring retailers and flooring contractors (not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be hungry and driven with bags of enthusiasm
