Job Description

General Operative - Street Cleansing Operative / Litter PickerSure Staffing Ltd is currently recruiting for General Operative to work as a Street Cleansing Operative / Litter Picker for one of the UKs leading waste and resource management companies based in Chelveston (near Rushden).The mission of the company is to ensure a safe, skilled and sustainable workforce provides the essential services that our customers seek and meets the UKs needs from the energy and utilities infrastructure.Responsibilities and Duties of Litter PickerWith our clients nature of environmental services the main duty is to work as part of our Street Cleansing Team delivering quality Street Cleansing Services on Shopping Centres, highway verges, footpaths, parks playing fields, housing areas, landscapedareas and similar open spaces in Rushden area (Chelveston). Therefore our candidates must possess the correct attributes and to:

  • General cleansing of the above areas
  • Removal of fly tips
  • Hand sweeping of hard surface areas
  • Clearing leaves
  • Collection and disposal of hypodermic needles
  • Removal of dead animals
  • Drive and be responsible for allocated vehicles and machinery
  • Carry out before use checks and end of day checks on allocated vehicles
  • Report all Vehicle/Equipment defects to your Supervisor/Workshop using the defect reporting book
  • Adhere to Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours Regulations
  • Adhere to The Highway Code
  • Other duties may be required to be carried out as a result of business needs
Location of the Client:
  • Chelveston (Rushden), Northamptonshire
Working hours for the General Operative role:
  • 5 days a week
  • Working Saturday and Sunday may be required as an overtime
Shift times For General Operative are:
  • 06:00 - 14:30
  • 07:00 - 15:30
Pay Rates for General Operative:
  • £8.91 per hour - Monday to Saturday
  • £17.82 - overtime & bank holiday
Requirements for Street Cleansing Operative:
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised
  • Highly Motivated
