Job Description

In a Nutshell…We have an exciting opportunity for a Timber Frame Designer to join our team within Vistry Works, to be based at our factory in Warrington. As our Timber Frame Designer, you will assist in the preparation, design and coordination of both new closed and openpanel timber frame designs and Building Information Models. Working in conjunction with external manufacturers and suppliers and the internal production team.Lets cut to the chase, whats in it for you…

  • Previous experience in timber frame design advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience in a design related role or design related college/university course essential
  • Basic knowledge of general construction and methodologies
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Teams
  • You will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage your workload based on regional priorities
  • You will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Qualification in Architectural Technology would be advantageous but not essential
More about the Timber Frame Designer role…
  • Reporting directly into the Design Manager or Senior designer this is an entry level role for someone with good cross-over skills but maybe not much experience, if any with timber frame design
  • Undertake in-house training to enable you to progress to a Timber Frame Designer when fully trained.
  • Assist in the preparation, design and coordination of new timber frame house types, alongside the different methodologies for our current range of standard house types.
  • Assist in producing accurate and efficient wall and floor panel designs in line with specification, including producing cutting lists and CNC files for the factory
  • To work in conjunction with our external manufacturers and suppliers and our internal production team
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may required from time to time, as directed by the team leader
