Job Description

Systems Support EngineerI’m working with a leading specialist software company, specializing in device automation and data integrity solutions. Based in Runcorn their solutions are used worldwide.They are looking for a Systems Support Engineer to help grow their support team. Your primary role is to co-ordinate, manage, and provide technical support for software solutions and integrated packaging line devices, which includes check weighers, barcodescanners, and printers.Responsibilities:

  • Providing customer support via phone and remote access, with occasional on-site visits (10% of the time).
  • Installing server software remotely or on-site.
  • Setting up, configuring, and commissioning connected devices to customer specifications.
  • Establishing network communications and conducting system testing.
  • Identifying and escalating issues as needed.
  • Providing customer training, both in-house and on-site.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in a client-facing support role for IT projects or systems (1st line support experience is acceptable).
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networks, including Firewalls, IIS, and FTP.
  • Some experience with full cycle software implementation.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with technical and non-technical team members and customers.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel across the UK, Europe, and potentially worldwide (full UK passport and driving license required).
  • Problem-solving skills and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Exposure to scripting languages like XML, XSLT, ASP.
  • Knowledge of other Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS) and databases.
  • Experience working with software linked to industrial devices.
  • Proficiency in a second language for international customer communication.
This role will be onsite in the Runcorn office.The role includes a structured shift pattern (6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm) and an on-call rota for outside office hours support which pays overtime.You’ll be provided essential tools, including a laptop and mobile phone, and offer a competitive company pension plan with an 8% match.
