Job Description

Ships AgentRuncorn£25,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience)MondayFriday, 8am5pmIm currently recruiting for an experienced Ships Agent to join a leading shipping company who provide expert logistics support to a diverse customer base within the UK and overseasThey are seeking a Ships Agent to support the services at ports throughout the UK that provide a personal and caring service to vessels, their crew and cargoThe Benefits;

The Candidate;
  • Experience of working within a port operation is essential
  • Proven experience within a Ships Agent role is highly desirable
  • Experience of working within the River Mersey or Manchester Ship Cannel
  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation i.e Bills of Laden or Port Health
  • Experience of working on cargo vessels or similar experience is desirable
  • Experience of handling multiple vessels with loading and discharging of cargo
  • Strong marine understanding
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel and Microsoft skills
  • A high attention to detail
  • Flexible and trustworthy
Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Booking vessels in and out of the port, and arranging the pilot and tugboat service
  • Submitting information on crew and any passengers to the local immigration authorities
  • Completion of all relevant vessel clearance documentation
  • Advising Customs of the ships arrival and reporting the cargo on board
  • Supervision of loading and discharging of cargo
  • Ships husbandry
  • Crew changes and repatriation, immigration documentation and onward travel arrangements
  • Handling ship services including fuel, repairs and maintenance
  • Sourcing of supplies and spare parts
