Job Description

Our client is a fast growing medical device manufacturer based in the north west of England with global operations. They are a team of talented individuals and are looking to add a Senior Production Engineer. The team have diverse backgrounds and expertise, working together to develop precision diagnostics. They drive innovation in diagnostics to create better outcomes for patients.PositionThe Senior Production Engineer will provide mechanical engineering knowledge and lead operational and Lean support for new and existing products.

  • Provide departmental expertise and support of Manufacturing Methods, Procedures, Training, Risk Assessments and Safety in accordance with regulatory requirements. Train others in these systems.
  • Provide departmental expertise and execution of validation of production cells to meet ISO13485 and FDA requirements.
  • Provide mechanical expertise and fault finding within Operations for a range of medical device products.
  • The Senior Production Engineer will provide expertise in process health and safety, create and maintain a safe environment for building, testing and fault finding instruments and their assemblies.
  • Project Manage significant projects on behalf of operations engineering and manufacturing, such as technical transfer and operational leadership of NPI.
  • Provide expertise in Lean techniques to identify, support and lead improvement projects within manufacturing areas.
  • Lead the introduction of Lean manufacturing, including 5S, workstations, test equipment & documentation design.
  • The Senior Production Engineer will provide expertise in providing an efficient flow, a balanced process and identify ways to reduce TAKT Time.
  • Design bespoke storage and component handling for cells including trolleys and assembly fixtures.
  • Design improvements, model them in CAD and prove on test instruments ready for cut-in.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technology, production engineering best practice and health and safety requirements.
  • Essential
  • Experience in instrument manufacture and/or production engineering in medium to high-end electromechanical manufacturing (medical devices preferred but other highly regulated industries considered)
  • Qualified and trained in Lean manufacturing techniques and experience of facilitating lean projects
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, report writing & presenting
  • Analytical skills including data gathering, manipulation and conclusion drawing
  • Understands quality systems and knowledge of manufacturing techniques, including lean manufacturing, just in time etc.
  • Experience of ISO13485 environments (if from medical devices or pharma background)
  • Ideally a working knowledge of IQ OQ PQ and cell validation although this isnt a deal breaker
  • Desirable
  • Demonstrated ability in CAD and engineering drawings
  • Managed transfer of new products from design into production
  • Qualifications:
  • Ideally qualified to HNC in Engineering or equivalent technical qualifications OR Degree in engineering, or working towards
