Job Description

Mechanical Project Engineer for a leading manufacturing company. The role is based in Runcorn.Client DetailsOur client is a leading manufacturing company based in Runcorn.Description

  • Take ownership and responsibility for 3rd party sub supply of a range of components and assemblies.
  • Effectively manage the supplier quality of the parts produced. Drive the engineering of the supplier process to meet the needs of the business for production rates.
  • Support the successful delivery of the project and refurbishment business activities. Liaise closely with the Refurbishment Engineer to deliver improvement projects not limited to, design, source, conflict resolution, installation and maintaining new and used automated processing equipment for the refurbishment of in-house and competitor technologies.
  • Take ownership for developing aspects of company technologies to improve performance, reduce cost or improve quality. Running of projects, risk assessments, design calculations, testing of new designs and manufacturing implementation.
  • Provide Engineering support to all our in-house Manufacturing and Pilot Plant assets. Ensure new capital and revenue equipment is designed, installed and improved to meet the changing Business needs. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, safe operatability, whilst promoting and upholding Process & Behavioural Safety Management Principles .
  • Support the engineering work for a range customer projects. Ensure the timely delivery in full, including compilation of an accurate BoM. Resolve design and specification conflicts and ensure the product will work as intended in the customer installation.
  • ProfileLevel of education & Experience in general
  • Graduate qualified with a strong mechanical & materials engineering background (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience of engineering manufacturing/fabrication and workshop engineering equipment and processes
  • Experience in working with pipework and pressure systems and the requirements of PED/PER and PSSR.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S, Six Sigma.
  • Experience in Quality Management systems such as ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience with PUWER. Familiar with LOLER.
  • Familiar with CE marking requirements and Machinery Directive
  • Experience of manufacturing work flow and design
  • Technical skills
  • Broad Mechanical Engineering Workshop capability (see above)
  • Analytical and problem solving such as FMEA, 5 Why, 8D
  • Familiar with design and use of precision engineering machinery including Pressing, Form tooling, Bending, Cutting, Milling, Drilling, CNC, Guillotine etc
  • Familiar with mechanical processing techniques including Surface Preparation (including Grit blasting and Etching), NDT techniques, Heat Treatment, Annealing, Gas Shielding, and general metallurgy
  • Good project organizational and planning skills
  • Behavioural skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to interface with people at all levels and build relevant relationships and networks (shop floor to senior management)
  • Customer focus
  • Efficiency orientation for development of low cost production solutions.

  • Job Offer£50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience level, plus an excellent benefits package.
