Job Description

HSE Manager role based in Runcorn. Working for a well established, growing manufacturing company.Client DetailsThis is a fantastic opportunity for a HSE Manager to join a growing manufacturing company who are going through a sustainable period of growth. Our client is a well established SME organisation and a global leader in the supply of their bespoke range ofproducts to the automotive, aerospace and industrial sectors.DescriptionThe Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for delivering a culture of safety first, where we aspire to be a zero-harm organisation that has a robust and highly effective health and safety management system, with high levels of awarenessand team buy in, setting best class standards and driving improvement at every opportunity. The remit of the role will also encompass supporting and leading on elements of cmpany strategy as they aim to reduce the environmental footprint and become a moresustainable business. To be successful in this role the individual must be able to show leadership and determination to drive the HSE agenda across our UK site.

  • Promote a single way of working to underpin the cohesive and coherent delivery of Health, Safety & Well-being management across the site.
  • Working with the site leadership team, ensure effective and compliant processes and procedures are integrated into daily business activities
  • Stay abreast of all HSE rules, regulations, and legal requirements, evolving business HSE systems as necessary to ensure full compliance.
  • Embed good behaviours and working practises throughout the business and initiate activity to create and sustain a strong H&S culture
  • Work with HR to encompass physical and mental wellbeing into our HSE agenda
  • Deliver training on basic HSE topics such as PPE, accident & hazard reporting, manual handling, induction training, etc
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., risk assessments, risk management, fire regulations, COSHH, PUWER, PPE, noise, air quality, safeguarding machinery, etc.
  • Lead monthly Safety meetings with the Health and Safety Committee. Ensure issues are raised and suitable actions are identified and completed in a timely manner
  • Assist with the development of Health and Safety digital management systems
  • Liaise with external bodies including the Health and Safety Executive, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders as necessary
  • Support and develop incident management & investigation processes
  • Conduct safety audits including the management and maintenance of the audit tracker
  • Produce reports, including reporting of key HSE metrics, statistics and present to the site SMT as required.
  • Lead the attainment of ISO14001Environmental Management System by end of 2023
  • Develop strategies and initiatives that will reduce our environmental footprint and lead to us becoming a more sustainable business
Profile
  • Minimum of a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent
  • Essential - proven experience in a Health and Safety role in a manufacturing business, ideally from the automotive, aerospace, Chemical or FMCG sectors
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to be assertive when necessary, but approachable and with an ability to influence others from top to bottom of the organisation
  • Action orientated - will take the initiative and lead by example, setting standards and holding people to account
  • Ability to be pragmatic, to problem-solve and find creative solutions without compromising our standards
  • Good Project Management skills, able to lead projects from initial scoping through to completion
  • Strong administration skills, attention to detail and the ability to work on your own initiative
Job Offer£50,000 to £55,000 plus benefits
