Job Description

The RoleJob purpose:

  • To support maximisation of plant availability by safely undertaking proactive and reactive maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Follows direction from line manager / planner for allocation of activities.
  • Decides the most effective course of action to take in order to rectify plant operational problems.
  • Refers complex technical / logistical problems to Engineering Managers, Engineering Team Leaders or Shift Managers.
    • What youll be doing as a Fitter at Isover:
  • Achieve and support a culture of environmental, health and safety (EHS) excellence through achievement of EHS objectives and targets.
  • Maintenance of all plant equipment and services to the highest possible standard allowing the company to safely achieve quality and performance targets, through preventative maintenance techniques and minimizing breakdown downtime.
  • Ensure that equipment installations are completed safely, accurately and to planned schedule.
  • Accurate reporting of work carried out, so that others can understand and act on this information. This includes logbooks, timelines, spares used, and to sign off work and hand back to production without delay.
  • Proactive approach to plant and organizational improvements, making suggestions to enhance equipment, departmental and site performance.
  • To ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained within the area of work and have the area cleared before handing back for production.
  • To actively support and participate in the implementation of SOPs / SMPs for all plant operations, particularly for the core programs (PM, AM, FI).
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required by your Line Manager or the Executive team, consistent with the scope of the job.
  • To adhere to all SG Insulation UK and Saint-Gobain policies and procedures and ensure that you respect these with regard to, though not limited to, health and safety, the elimination of waste and care for the environment, equality of opportunity and the prevention of fraud.
  • To adhere to the company Quality Policy and Procedures and be proactive in reporting or raising issues of either non-compliance or areas for improvement in order to ensure complete customer satisfaction through:
  • compliance with the relevant Standards and Regulations.
  • improvement in products, solutions and services.
  • a quality system that is fit for purpose, continuously maintained and improved.
    • What were looking for in a Fitter:
  • Recognised time-served apprenticeship, ideally mechanical / mechatronics.
  • Environment, health and safety awareness
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair all plant processing and services equipment
  • Proficient in the diagnosis of plant problems
  • Ability to work generally unsupervised.
  • Ability to measure, design, and weld simple metallic structures
