Job Description

Assistant accountants are tasked with supporting qualified accountants within the business finance function. They are involved in a wide array of accounting tasks, from report preparation to ledger maintenance, bank statement reconciliation and cash flowforecasting for the department or business.Client DetailsThe client we are recruiting for are an international competitor within the manufacturing and pharmaceutical industry. The company are a global healthcare group offering high-quality products and services for dialysis, hospitals, and outpatient treatment,with over 300,000 employees in more than 100 countries around the globe, and annual sales exceeding £37 billion internationally.DescriptionKey responsibilities of an assistant accountant include:

  • Updating and reconciling financial ledgers
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets for the company
  • Preparing financial documents such as purchase orders and bank statements
  • Verifying company expenses, bank deposits and bank payments
  • Reporting discrepancies, mistakes or potential fraud to senior management
  • Complying with financial laws and regulations alongside in-house policies
  • Keeping their personal accounting qualifications up to date
  • Researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashion
ProfileThe successful candidate consists of someone who has:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills and in-depth knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles
  • An in-depth understanding of analytics
  • The ability to work as a part of a team
  • The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • The attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with accounting software, such as Xero or QuickBooks or Excel
  • Preferably AAT qualified or training
  • Sufficient experience in the finance or accountant department
