Job Description

Role: PCB and Electrical AssemblerReports to: Manufacturing & Production ManagerBased at: RugbySalary: £24,000 depending on experience Role overview The role requires an experienced and competent electronics assembler to solder printed circuit boards and do other work in our electronics assembly workshop. With a high level of soldering proficiency, dexterity and attention to detail, also an ability to workaccurately from drawings and written instructions.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:Reporting to the Manufacturing & Production Manager, the PCB and Electrical Assembler will predominantly specialise in the reworking and assembly of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), and also help to build the full range of our world leading products whilst ensuringbuild times are met and the highest level of quality standards throughout the production process.Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:

  • Assembling the constituent parts of products from PCB level, through sub-assembly to finished units, following engineering drawings.
  • Accurately interpreting and replicating the circuit diagrams, schematics and wiring schedules of drawings to produce both prototype and production PCBs, along with production test equipment.
  • Assembling both test cables and prototype PCBs with surface mounts and leaded components, performing prototype coil winding assembly as required by each design specification.
  • Carrying out prototype modifications in-line with IPC standards and engineering guidelines and requirements.
  • Understanding and building to wiring schedules, using appropriate meters where required, to check assembled work.
  • Working on PCB re-works.
  • Supporting Electrical Test as and when required.
  • Highlighting any specification or design errors.
Other responsibilities will include the following:
  • Reading electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Build to sample/build to verbal instructions
  • Power supply wiring and construction
  • Wiring looms
  • Mechanical duties, such as: cutting, drilling, tapping
  • Cooler build
  • Brazing (as trained)
  • Self-inspection of all work
  • Maintain documentation of process
  • Stores/parts kitting
  • Stock take duties
  • Work as a team when needed
Mechanical Assembly
  • Build mechanical laser components and coolers using information given.
  • Use the appropriate methods and techniques to assemble the components to the required standard following appropriate diagrams and instructions.
  • You shall be required to carry out all such other duties commensurate with your role as the Company shall reasonably direct from time to time including duties in connection with the business of any subsidiary of the Company.
Work safely and minimise risk in engineering construction
  • Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Correctly instruct, supervise and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled led worker assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work.
  • Test all products safely.
  • Use safety equipment, PPE and protective devices and equipment.
Experience and knowledge with
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing assembly role, with experience of soldering, crimping and surface mount.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Personal drive and enthusiasm.
