Job Description

We run our business by these values and they are reflected in all of our roles, particularly in roles like our Client Solutions Managers.Job purpose:As our Head of Client Solutions, you will be responsible for the full design and implementation of innovative operational plans to aid the retention and development of current and prospective clients. You will amend and implement the systems and processes to uphold the operational solutions, working independently on a self-sufficient basis, whilst engaging with key stakeholders as required.This key role sits within our Operational Planning Division reporting directly in to our Head of Planning and you will work cross-functionally with other internal departments but also engage with senior stakeholders, up to the Hermes UK Board, and senior stakeholders in our client businesses. Excellent influencing skills and the ability to build relationships is paramount in this position.You will be expected to design, implement and project manage operational improvements into the hub, depot and delivery network to ensure that new and existing client business is seamlessly integrated. The development of the network may include the installation of new systems and processes to improve the overall performance of the network. So the ability to analyse large amounts of data whilst understanding the operational requirements of national logistics business is requirement of this job. You will need to deliver new and develop existing models which support us is managing client integration.About the Role:Part of your role will be to create a strategic vision for Client Solutions and develop the capacity and capability within the Hermes network to deliver the Sales and Commercial strategy. You must be comfortable with having full accountability for the design and implementation of current and future prospective client solutions to maximise revenue opportunities at minimum cost. Ensuring solutions are designed and costed in partnership with Finance.To be successful in this role you must be able to operate commercially and have experience developing new market opportunities through the creation of new operational solutions and managing the development of the tools, metrics and capabilities to manage effectively.Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience of logistics operations and developing customer solutions
  • Experience of project planning, managing multiple projects successfully with demonstrable ROI
  • Understanding of supply chain and related processes
  • Excellent data manipulation and modelling / costing techniques skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, as well as Visio and Project would be preferable
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
  • Preferred knowledge of routing packages e.g. Paragon
  • Experience of operational cost, commercial profitability and P&L

  • Full clean UK driving license
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Responsibilities:
  • Project manage the implementation of new solutions end to end, involving all aspects of the Hermes business to ensure successful implementation.
  • The operational lead on client-based projects, being the face of Hermes in client meetings, using your extensive knowledge to sell Hermes services to clients and uphold the Hermes brand.
  • Responsible for all domestic and international new business solutions, leading the overall international lane development and day to day international management and network development.
  • Liaising with the Planning Team for any planning, trunking and collections requirements to enable the adjustments of plans and communication into the operation as required.
  • Manage, motivate and inspire direct reports, investing time in their development. Building and maintaining a successful functionally flexible team and providing effective line management.
