Job Description

Opportunity for a senior mechanical design engineer to join an SME that designs, develops and manufactures cutting-edge scientific products. The company has been in existence for 20 years and now has customers in 50+ countries with offices in the UK, USA and Asia.You will work closely with the head of engineering to provide mechanical design expertise as part of a small team dealing with one of the companys established product ranges. They are consistently looking for innovative ways to appeal to their market and you will play a key part in the full lifecycle of products from initial concept through to working closely with manufacturing and making ongoing improvements to existing products.As the senior mechanical design engineer your duties will include:

  • Designing, building and testing electro-mechanical prototypes
  • Planning and leading product development projects
  • Collaborating with commercial team to create specifications for electro-mechanical products
  • Reviewing designs for manufacture
  • Implementing robust solutions for manufacturing
  • Creating manufacturing data packs, including BOMs and work instructions
  • Designing and building test jigs and fixtures for production
  • Identifying and managing continuous improvement projects
    • To apply for the senior mechanical design engineer role, you will need:
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, ideally with small electro-mechanical products
  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject, ideally mechanical engineering
  • 3D CAD experience (CREO/Pro Engineer desirable)
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplined (software, electronics, etc.) design and development function
  • Experience in working with a manufacturing or production function to bring new designs into existence effectively and efficiently.
