Job Description

SEN Teaching AssistantThe Aurora Meldreth Manor SchoolWe are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our school team in Meldreth Manor School, supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

  • You will be crucial in supporting students with their learning, development and progress in all areas of the curriculum within a range of learning contexts including the classroom, the local environment and within the community
  • Helping young people with a range of needs, including PMLD, complex medical conditions and autism to achieve their educational and personal goals
  • Supporting an environment that fosters equality, diversity and the rights of all young people to be seen as learners and be treated with respect
  • Placing an emphasis on support and empowerment of young people
  • Developing a greater understanding of disability issues and the values of Aurora and demonstrating these in the work
  • Providing high quality support in all aspects of the work
  • The role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines
  • To be willing and able to work towards getting any relevant qualifications, attending training and to take responsibility for your own development.
  • Be able to adapt your communication style and be able to develop skills to suit the needs of the children and young people you are working with
  • Be able and willing to support students in the water during swimming or hydrotherapy activities
  • Able to work supportively as a team member and confidentially when working independently, within a range of settings
  • Able to understand, interpret and deliver effective education and care and support plans based on a needs led approach
