Job Description

Quality Manager Royston Full Time Permanent Position Salary Negotiable DOEOur Client based in Royston are looking to recruit a Quality Manager / Head of Quality this is a day shift permanent role:Job Title: Quality Manager / Head of QualityReports to: Managing DirectorResponsible for: Quality Assurance and Quality Control TeamsPurpose of Role:Ensure compliance to ISO9001, AS9100 Rev C, Nadcap (CP, HT, NDT, NM, WLD) and Sabre2. Develop and maintain robust quality assurance and quality control teams within the business, ensuring continuous readiness for internal, 3rd party external and customeraudits.Develop and maintain a strong technical relationship with customers, ensuring customer specifications are understood and implemented through contract review and in the event of process failure, quality tools and techniques e.g. 8D Methodology, 5-Whys, etc.are deployed effectively to deliver route cause solutions.Key Tasks:

  • Develop and maintain senior relationships with both customers and suppliers at a technical level ensuring customer interface is appropriate and professional.
  • To evolve and coordinate quality strategy within the Company
  • To coordinate and drive quality initiatives to provide a guideline for a basis of quality process improvement
  • Review and manage customer scorecards
  • Maintain internal quality audit schedule to ensure the continuing success of quality initiatives and management systems, including both customer and industry imposed audit requirements
  • Provide reports on and drive improvement through Key Performance Indicators with your team with the focus on ensuring that the programme satisfies the customers requirements.
  • Manage individual and team performance against business objectives
  • Manage the Quality/Business Management System
  • Encourage an environment of continuous improvement
  • Develop effective quality control processes within the manufacturing process
  • Govern the NPI process, ensure process adherence and ongoing process evolution requirements identified through lessons learnt activities
Key Skills/Experience:
  • An effective leader, skilled in enlisting the support of all team members in aligning with project and organisational goals
  • Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively to ensure timely project completion within a team environment
  • Creative, resourceful and flexible, able to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Breadth of experience from customer interface and program management to supply chain and tooling management
  • Extensive experience in managing projects and new parts implementation processes (APQP iaw AS9145, PPAP. Etc.) Experience with advance quality tools (e.g. FMEA, MSA, SPC)
  • Extensive experience in auditing and coordinating audits (3rd party, internal, customer)
  • Extensive experience managing high level supplier and client relationships within a complex customer base
  • Customer focussed - both internal and external
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace
  • Supplier development experience required
  • Results orientated with the ability to balance other business considerations
  • Key ability to persuade and influence the company to adopt their quality responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of a broad range of Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing processes.
  • Working experience in Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement
  • Experience in managing quality/business management systems iaw AS900/ISO9001
  • Experience in NADCAP approved special processes
  • Working understanding of metrology and inspection management
  • Solutions focussed with a practical approach
  • Demonstrable change management experience in an inspection environment
  • Experience of machined or fabricated components and assemblies, including working knowledge of geometric tolerances
