This company is a start-up, closely connected with a highly successful R&D consultancy. They are looking to launch a range of automated high-throughput cell sorting instruments for research and clinical applications. The venture has strong backing from its parent company. We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer who is at the early stages of their career and is keen to learn and progress. From the start, you will contribute to the development and transfer to production of innovative instrumentation featuring optical, fluidic, thermal and mechanical systems. You will need to be technically strong and be happy working in a small, but growing team. Relocation assistance is also available.Your main responsibilities will be:* Working within a multi-disciplinary team to create products that meet user needs* Designing components and assemblies using 3D CAD* Using your technical knowledge to work with precise and challenging mechanical requirements* Building and de-bugging electro-mechanical assemblies* Carrying out engineering testing to evaluate performance against specification* Optimising designs and manufacturing processes for robustness and reliabilityQualifications and Training:* Good mechanical engineering degree (or related discipline)* Skilled in the use of 3D CAD (ideally including SolidWorks)* Ideally 2+ years experience, but we will consider new graduates if you have some internship/industrial experienceSkills and Experience:* Innovative problem-solving skills* Wide range of design experience which may include products, assembly jigs and test equipment* Experience of product release activities would be an advantage* Excellent time management skills* Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques* Hands-on ability to build, test and troubleshoot* Good report writing and communication skillsStart: Immediate Location: Royston, HertfordshireSalary: £30,000 to £45,000Benefits: * A generous employer pension contribution* Employee share scheme* Private medical insurance* Profit share* 25 days annual holiday plus bank holidays* Life insurance* Discounts and memberships to local sports facilities and the theatre* Cycle to Work scheme* A comprehensive relocation package is also available, if applicable.If you are interested in this position, feel you have the relevant experience and skills and would like to apply, please call our team on or apply online.
