We are looking for a bright and versatile Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of inkjet printing machines, printheads and digital print engines. This is a senior role with a fantastic company, based near the town of Royston, on the borders of beautiful Cambridgeshire. Relocation assistance is also available.Your main responsibilities will be:* Detailed design of printing system components and assemblies* Working with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions to optimise performance and cost of products* Playing a key role in concept development for new products and machines* Using your technical knowledge to work with precise and challenging mechanical requirements* Working with external suppliers to specify components for your designsQualifications and Training:* Exceptional mechanical designer with extensive experience of product development in a high technology industry, ideally Inkjet* Extensive background in SolidWorks 3D CAD* Previous use of SolidWorks PDM for design data management* Experience of creating and maintaining BOMs using an ERP system (Infor, SAP etc) would be an advantageSkills and Experience:* Innovative problem-solving skills* Wide range of design experience which may include machines, products, assembly jigs and fixtures* Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques* Experience of sourcing off-the-shelf and custom parts and building relationships with suppliers* Hands-on ability to build, test and troubleshoot* Machine shop skills and experience would be an advantage* Experience of digital printing industry would be an advantageStart: Immediate Location: Royston, HertfordshireSalary: £40,000 to £45,000Benefits: * A generous employer pension contribution* Employee share scheme* Private medical insurance* Profit share* 25 days annual holiday plus bank holidays* Life insurance* Discounts and memberships to local sports facilities and the theatre* Cycle to Work scheme* A comprehensive relocation package is also available, if applicable.If you are interested in this position, feel you have the relevant experience and skills and would like to apply, please call our team on or apply online.
