Job Description

Summary Were looking for an Experiences & Events Manager (internally known as Experience & Visitor Programming Manager) to join our team at Wimpole Hall.In this new role youll enable the development of a Wimpole-wide visitor experience that puts our audiences needs at the heart of the grade 1 listed mansion, garden and parkland and rare breed farm.With overall accountability for storytelling through a programme of events and interpretation, all commercial experience partnerships and audience development, youll accelerate Wimpoles success as a nationally recognised visitor business and cultural assetfor the local community. What its like to work here Reporting to the General Manager, youll be part of the Portfolio Leadership Team holding responsibility for the strategic planning and overall management of the visitor-facing programme. Youll have the opportunity to have significant impact in the estates50-year masterplan development, as your role will be key to the propertys successful onward transformation.As one of the top 15 visitor businesses in the National Trust Wimpole is a busy estate to work on with endless potential to deliver exceptional experiences every day. Following significant visitor infrastructure investment Wimpole is beginning an excitingnew chapter focusing on sustainable growth and cultural renewal across its visitor business.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Youll manage a team of three responsible for all programming, commercial experience partnerships, interpretation and storytelling across the estate and work in partnership with the Property Operations Manager, along with wider teams, to deliver a seamlessvisitor experience. Youll have a close working relationship with regional Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop Wimpoles audience development, financial and inclusion ambitions. Youll work collaboratively and use your creative flair to inspireothers and develop a series of experiences, programmes and events that meet our audience needs and our business ambitions.Youll work one in four weekends, as well as evenings and weekends as required by the estate experience programme.For any questions or an informal conversation please contact .uk marking for the attention of Polly Ingham-Watts, General Manager. Who were looking for To succeed youll need to have:

  • Proven experience of developing a successful programme of high-quality experiences lead by the needs of different audiences.
  • Experience of leading diverse teams including strong partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of audience development strategies, including use of integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Understanding and interest in people and the stories they tell, history and heritage, nature conservation and overall connecting people to our places.
  • Experience of income generation and managing budgets, including meeting, or exceeding financial targets.
  • Experience in managing high volume visitor operations
  • Understanding of developing interpretation, including working with external contractors and designers as well as excellent written, IT and creative design skills.
