Job Description

£22,750 circa depending on experience, Rotherham / Sheffield boundary , Permanent position, a fantastic package including 22 days annual leave plus stats (30 in total) increasing to 35 days over 5 years. In addition to this you will also benefit from privateWestfield health care, contributory pension, free car parking, on site canteen facilities and a company uniformHours: First 4-6 weeks 9am - 5:30pm Monday - Thursday, 4:30pm Friday (training), then will move onto 6am - 2:30pm Monday - Thursday, 1:30pm Friday (39 hour week)We have an exciting new opportunity to join our world renowned client as a Trainee Metallurgical Lab Technicianon a full time permanent basis. This company prides themselves on excellent staff retention and are at the forefront of innovation within their field.Working as a Trainee Metallurgical Lab Technician, you will be reporting into the Quality Manager. Day to day duties will include;

  • Administrate external testing, including sending samples, arrange POs and reviewing results
  • Conduct lab comparison tests
  • Creation of certificates and report in accordance with the relevant standards and company procedures
  • Perform internal mechanical testing as required and to written procedure
  • Calibration of equipment to be undertaken and / or arranged as per schedule
  • Performing periodic internal calibration checks in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025
  • Generate certificates and reports
  • Preparing sample pieces for test requirements
  • Metallographic preparation
  • Heat Treatment
  • Sand and Corrosion Testing
  • Photomicrography
  • General lab duties
