Job Description

Senior Transport Planner Sheffield £35+/HourRoles and Responsibilities. Core role on appointment is to ensure high quality work outputs in the following areas:

  • Drafting / collation of business cases for the authoritys Transforming Cities Fund programme, including liaison with external contractors
  • Drafting / collation of full business case for externally funded major projects, and acting as client for the authoritys schemes as directed.
  • Liaison with RMBC asset management and land owners in respect of land acquisition for the highway improvement for major schemes.
    • As a senior team member these roles will also involve appointed candidates in any or all of the following activities:-
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Councils Transportation Strategy and programmes
  • Manage on strategic transportation issues of local, regional and national importance on behalf of the Borough.
  • Provide a strategic overview on all aspects of transportation and land use modelling.
  • Manage the development and appraisal of major transportation projects in accordance with the DfTs Web Tag appraisal methodology and Sheffield City Regions Assurance Framework.
  • Effectively manage the Councils activities relating to Transportation Strategy, working closely across teams including Traffic management and Road Safety, Highway Design and the Councils sustainable travel initiatives
  • Manage, monitor and control budgets and programmes, ensuring good financial management to meet budgetary targets.
    • Qualifications Required: Degree or institute qualification in transport planning eg TPP Memberships: Membership of ICE, CIHT, IHE, TPS
