Job Description

Brewster Partners are working in exclusive partnership with Masuku as they look to recruit a brand new opportunity.Masuku is currently recruiting a Production Manager for its production and R&D facility in South Yorkshire, due to open in February 2021. The facility, where a unique combination of advanced manufacturing processes will be deployed, will focus on producing Masukus proprietary nanofiber filtration material - optimised to simultaneously achieve best-in-class filtration efficiency and breathability whilst being 100% biodegradable.THE COMPANYMasuku is a high-tech sustainable filtration company founded by a pioneering circular economy design & technology firm, alongside high-profile leaders from across the fashion industry.Over the last two years, Masuku has developed a suite of cutting-edge technologies which will be applied across a number of face mask and filtration products. Combined with a deep expertise in product design, Masuku now plans to revolutionise the mask and air filtration industry offering a safe, comfortable and natural breathing experience to its users.Masuku is a vibrant and rapidly expanding international organisation who is actively seeking to appoint a Production Manager. The appointee who will report directly to the Head of Operations will manage a team of circa 20 team members, including two shift supervisors, and be responsible for ensuring that daily production activity meets customer demand. The Production Manager will work closely with both the Technical and Laboratory functions to ensure that manufacturing processes are operated in strict accordance with procedures that safeguard both employee safety and manufactured product quality. The Production Manager will support the Head of Operations with day to day production scheduling and planning as well as ensuring that all shop-floor activity delivers both optimum levels of productivity and output of finished product.The Production Manager will build, train and mentor his team to develop the operational capability and flexibility required of the facility in order to support Masukus ambitious commercial growth plans.THE JOB:Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all shop-floor activity is conducted safely, in accordance with agreed process procedures and that facility HSE policies are understood by and adhered to by all members of the production team.
  • Managing and planning the activity of two rotating production shifts (early/late) to meet agreed daily and monthly output targets and specific customer schedules.
  • Working with facility Technical and Laboratory functions to develop manufacturing process methods and techniques to deliver improved levels of productivity and product quality.
  • Devising and implementing practical and efficient standard systems of work for the production team to follow.
  • Setting, communicating, measuring and reporting key operational objectives and KPIs for the production department. Working closely with the shift supervisors and their teams to achieve these objectives and to generate a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Managing production team resource including the day to day planning of working hours, identifying future headcount requirements and the creation of a on ongoing training and development plan for all production team members.
    • THE PERSONWill have a formal engineering or technical qualification along with a proven track record of leading shop-floor teams within a fast paced manufacturing or process industry environment.Should have a good general knowledge of statutory H&S legislation relevant to a manufacturing workplace and ideally hold an IOSH or NEBOSH safety management qualification.Will be a strong, fair and positive leader comfortable working with and driving shop-floor production teams achieve challenging targets. Equally you should be confident working with other management colleagues in making effective contributions to future operational strategies.Will possess good verbal and written communication skills, be highly numerate and have well rounded general knowledge of and experience of using IT/systems including planning or MRP tools relevant to a production/manufacturing activity.Will have experience of managing performance, attendance, appraisals and other day to day HR processes within a team of direct reports.Should be flexible in approach, a committed team player and wanting to make a positive contribution to the future success and growth of an exciting new businessAPPLICATIONSOur client shares our commitment to providing fair and equal access to appointments and to ensure that all sectors of society are represented.
