Job Description

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are retained partners to SPIDevelopments in the appointment of a Managing Director to join the business in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.SPI are a leading fluid control specialist company, supplying high precision application and dosing systems for adhesive, flavour and other liquids. Operating in the global tobacco, paper straw and detergent industries.Having been acquired in 2018, SPIare now part of the Tembo Group, a Dutch family- owned global group of manufacturing companies employing around 1200 people with a turnover of c€200 million.Originally founded in 1999, by Paul Leverick and his wife, SPI was fully registered as a limited company in 2002. Now, the company has an experienced team ofc27 people with over 60 years of experience dedicated to creating high quality solutions for manufacturingoperations around the world. Based in Rotherham, the company now turnover £3.2 million with growth plans to get to £5 million by 2027.Due to a retirement, SPI Developments are now seeking a Managing Director to lead them through the next phase of growth.Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and driving the Companies SPI and thesubsidiary A1 Precision Engineering to achieve its growth target of £5m t/o pa, whilst maintaining profitability, through continued growth of existing sectors with an emphasis on targeting new markets
  • Developing and delivering the future strategyof the company with the Tembo group board and communicating to all personnel within SPI and A1
  • Ensuring suitable working relationships areset up with sister companies within the Tembo group so that they function as needed, within the context of the company and group strategies
  • Ensuring the correct management team is in place, with clear responsibilities and functions
  • Mentoring and motivating the managers and staff of SPI and A1 in their operation and running of the company, including working with customers and suppliers if required
  • Supervising a team and leading on thepersonal development of all managers and staff, acting as a mentor for the management team, and making sure there is a succession planning process in place
  • Ensuring the company has suitably skilledmanagers and staff to achieve the company and group goals
  • Ensuring that the company operates to the highest possible CSR-ESG standards, meeting the expectations of the group and its customers by minimising the impact of the company and its products on the environment, together with ensuring that the company supplychain is ethically compliant with all recognised standards
Parkinson Lee executive Search are lookingfor individuals that can demonstrate:
  • Understanding of industrial production processes and equipment with a good general knowledge of engineering
  • Knowledge of the supply and manufacture of products to multinational companies
  • Strong understanding of financial reports and company finance. Ensuring statutory and group deadlines adhered to
  • Experience in managing personnel with strongleadership and mentoring skills
  • Understanding of international business and its processes, with empathy for different people and cultures
  • Good understanding of project, productivity and business management
  • Ability to confidently present information at all levels of management, group board level and sales conferences with excellent organisation and communication skills
  • A strong Commercial Acumen with client facing experience
  • Experience of working within a small company environment
  • Strong background in technology and operations management within a manufacturing organisation
  • Flexible with being office based, in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
