Job Description

Learning Support Assistant with Level 6 British Sign Language (BSL) Interpretation SkillsPart time16 Hours per weekTemporary Salary of position£16.86ph plus holiday payLocation; Rotherham College, RotherhamRotherham Education Services (RES) supplying casual and temporary staffing to the RNN Group. The RNN Group consists of Rotherham, Dearne Valley and North Notts colleges.Are you passionate about supporting the learning journey of students within education We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work within our busy Additional Learning Support team. You will work at Rotherham College through our subsidiary company, Rotherham Educational Services, assisting students with learning differences and/ordisabilities across the College. The role includes providing BSL interpretation and note taking as required.In this rewarding role, you will provide in class/out of class support to assist students with learning difficulties/disabilities to help them develop skills to maximise independence and achieve their full potential, whilst securing full access to the rangeof opportunities the College provides.You will have the personal skills to be able to effectively support students, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises, and helping them to develop their own coping strategies. You will have excellent BSL skills to provide interpretation as theneed arises.Have you got what it takes to be successfulThe ideal candidates will:

  • Hold GCSE A-C in English & Maths or be prepared to work towards
  • Hold Level 6 or above in BSL
  • Hold experience supporting students in an educational setting
  • Be flexible
  • Good IT skills specifically Microsoft office
BSL support will be required Tues/Thurs/Fri, around 16 hours per week. If required, there may be a possibility of picking up other support hours, however this will not be at the BSL.Why register with us
