Job Description

THE COMPANY:Brewster Partners are delighted to have been exclusively retained by Masuku to recruit a brand new position. Masuku is currently recruiting a Head of Operations for its production and R&D facility in South Yorkshire, due to open in February 2021. The facility, where a unique combination of advanced manufacturing processes will be deployed, will focus on producing Masukus proprietary nanofiber filtration material - optimised to simultaneously achieve best-in-class filtration efficiency and breathability whilst being 100% biodegradable.Masuku is a high-tech sustainable filtration company founded by a pioneering circular economy design & technology firm, alongside high-profile leaders from across the fashion industry.Over the last two years, Masuku has developed a suite of cutting-edge technologies which will be applied across a number of face mask and filtration products. Combined with a deep expertise in product design, Masuku now plans to revolutionise the mask and air filtration industry offering a safe, comfortable and natural breathing experience to its users.THE JOB:Masuku is a vibrant and rapidly expanding international organisation who is actively seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Operations. The appointee will support both the "start-up" and site commissioning process as well as assuming subsequent responsibility for the successful day to day operational management and growth of the facility and its associated activityThe key responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Supporting the organisation by working with its existing project team and third party project resource to establish "start-up" and successful 1st stage manufacturing capability
  • Providing hands-on leadership of up to circa 30 multi-discipline operational staff
  • Ensuring that capacity is managed efficiently to produce product of the necessary quality standard and volumes to meet customer schedules on time and in full.
  • Work independently and with vendors to understand the root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications.
  • Working with the organisations executive leadership team to set operational budgets and strategic objectives for the facility
  • Leading and driving continuous improvement measures and process innovations to streamline activities on the production floor
  • THE PERSON:To be considered for this position you will be a degree qualified manufacturing, engineering or technical professional with a proven track record track of high impact contributions both as an individual engineer and in a management capacity.You will have led multi-discipline teams as either Operations Manager, Business Unit Manager, Cell Leader or similar and be conversant with modern manufacturing management tools and a pro-active champion and practitioner of lean manufacturing techniques.Youll be able to manage and execute multiple large scale projects simultaneously and have had responsibility for operational budgetary performance and achieving operational objectives & KPIs.THE BENEFITS:The company will offer a competitive salary package and fantastic opportunities within an expanding business.APPLICATIONS:Our client shares our commitment to providing fair and equal access to appointments and to ensure that all sectors of society are represented.
