Job Description

Our rapidly expanding client providing specialist care to adults with complex care needs is looking to recruit an Employee Relations Advisor on a permanent basis.With direct accountability to the HRBP with a dotted line to the Regional Director of Operations, building on strong foundations already in place, you will work with colleagues across the Organisation to ensure maximum efficiency for our HR function.Key Objectives

  • To assist in the professional management of the Human Resources function providing a proactive, innovative and comprehensive service, reflecting best practice at all times and implementing a minimum standard.
  • Developing effective relationships with the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation. Monitoring trends in employment practices and advising on appropriate proactive action
  • To support the Operations Directors and their teams in an advisory capacity, ensuring a high level of communication and professional support for all colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the management of complex, high-risk Employee Relations cases and collaborate with the relevant HR Business Partner in complex cases, when necessary
  • Minimise the potential risk of employment litigation, where possible by supporting colleagues wellbeing and challenging managers, when appropriate, the rationale for the decision making
  • Support the preparation and management of Employment Tribunal claims and other employment law litigation cases.
  • Coach and advise decision makers with the management of each stage of the relevant ER processes, including informal conduct and performance concerns, formal investigations, formal disciplinary and grievance, performance improvement, flexible working requests,long and short-term sick absence management
  • Coaching managers on how to use the management toolkits to support effective management of people processes, such as probation, and how to manage resolution of informal concerns about conduct and performance.
  • Assist the HRBPs and Learning and Development Team colleagues, to co-create appropriate upskilling interventions in the technical and soft skills management of both the informal ER issues and formal ER procedures, including the development of tool kitsfor managers to manage key ER processes e.g., probation period, sick absence, informal ER concerns.
  • Ensure all ER advice given to decision makers is compliant and given in a timely, initiative-taking way in accordance with Exemplars Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, relevant employment law and ACAS code of practices.
  • Work to agreed protocols for the escalation of complex and potentially high-risk case management to the HR Manager, to ensure managers receive the best possible advice and guidance, and to minimise risks to Exemplar Health Care
  • Maintain consistent focus on sick absence management to resolve long-term cases effectively and ensure persistent short-term absence is addressed.
  • Collate and manage the ER case management data to minimise the time taken to resolve cases and identify trends for sharing with HR colleagues and managers to resolve areas of concern that have emerged from the analysis of the data.
  • Lead on the lesson learned process to ensure learnings are implemented to ensure continuous improvement in the management of ER cases
  • Manage all the administrative tasks and HR systems activities to ensure all ER processes, including sick absence data, are accurately recorded.
Key Skills
  • Certificate in HR or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience within a HR or Employee Relations Advisor role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Applications
  • Excellent influencing, networking and negotiating skills
  • Experience in developing systems to improve processes
  • High professional standards, methodical and diligent, with highly effective organisational skills able to manage workload to ensure tight deadlines are met.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret and implement HR Policies.
  • Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in an appropriate manner.
