Job Description

Communications & Engagement Manager - South Yorkshire **Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for effective communication Were looking for aCommunications & Engagement Managerto work on behalf of a local authority inSouth Yorkshire!Rate of Pay:£25+ per hour (please note this is negotiable on experience)Contract:3-6 month agency contract with a view to be extended.Location:Rotherham.Role Purpose:

  • Work with the Head of Communications and Marketing to ensure the effective delivery of the Council’s corporate communications, engagement, marketing, reputation, brand and digital activities in support of the authority’s priorities.
  • Effectively manage high profile media relations issues, lead the development of evaluation-based communications and marketing strategies and deliver information, behaviour change and demand management campaigns.
  • Work with partner organisations to deliver on shared communications objectives.
  • Lead a communications team and have responsibility for providing communications, marketing, media relations, e-comms, staff and community engagement, digital and social media advice and support.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Cabinet members, executive directors and senior officers and hold effective relationships with directorate and senior leadership teams.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of policies and key issues and challenges the Council faces to ensure a customer and service focused approach whilst working with partner organisations to deliver on shared communications objectives.
Skills / Knowledge:
  • Accreditation or Membership of Chartered Institute of Public Relations and/or Marketing.
