Job Description

the position will involve maintaining the manufacturing production of high quality, high volume turned components to supplied drawings; this will encompass setting and operating sliding head and multi-spindle axis CNC machining centres. The role will alsoinvolve:

  • the requirement to set and operate more than one machine wherever possible
  • maintaining tooling and inspection records for all components produced
  • responsibility for housekeeping (5S) and H&S in the workplace, including COSHH
  • ordering tooling via phone/email
  • reading and understanding engineering drawings and checking parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance
  • recording checks on process control sheets, using E8 and Excel
  • entering production information onto route cards and spreadsheets
  • programming and changing over machines with tooling and attachments for new and existing components
  • active involvement in continuous improvement activities, optimisation to increase OEE
  • liaising with both the team leader and quality team, investigating production and machine problems and implementing solutions
  • transporting parts and materials using manual and powered lifting equipment
  • carrying out basic maintenance and repair to CNCs and associated equipment
