Job Description

Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Adult Acute Care Pathway: 2 Posts1 full time permanent post: Acute ward (0.5 wte) and Rehab ward (0.5 wte)1 full time permanent post: Acute ward (0.5 wte) and PICU ward (0.5 wte)An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and innovative clinical psychologists to join our Adult Mental Health Acute Care Pathway in Rotherham. We have a clear commitment and passion for developing Psychological thinking and ways of working within our inpatient wards and these posts provide an opportunity to work within multi-disciplinary teams where Clinical Psychology is valued, focusing on improving Psychological care for Service Users. The post holders will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams and will form part of the senior leadership team, contributing to the development of inpatient pathways aimed at improving care. Within Rotherham, there is also a wider growing team of supportive, compassionate and value-driven Psychological Professions which the post-holders would be integrated with and be a part of the continuing development.At the Swallownest site, we have two acute wards, a PICU and a rehab ward and each post would offer time into one acute ward and time into either PICU or the rehab ward. In addition to offering variation in the role, the aim of this split post is to facilitate working towards further integration between the wards and to ensure clear pathways for service user care.Within the last eighteen months the Rotherham Care Group has invested in expanding the Modern Matron role for its inpatient service. This is in order to provide greater oversight and development of inpatient services, working to developing a trauma informed workforce and develop a strong multi-disciplinary team approach: of which you will be a key component.The post holders will offer individual clinical work (specialist assessment, formulation and psychological intervention) with service-users on the wards and to develop team based formulations. This post also offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in consultation to enhance psychological thinking in the inpatient teams. A key role of the post-holders will therefore be to offer consultation and supervision, opportunities for reflective practice, alongside promoting staff wellbeing and resilience. There will be opportunities for research and service evaluation as part of the role. They will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. They will also be committed to the principles of recovery, have effective interpersonal and time management skills as well as being a responsive and motivated team player.The successful applicant will have Doctoral level training in clinical psychology and be HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist.The successful candidates will receive management supervision from the Modern Matron and clinical supervision from a Senior Clinical Psychologist. CPD and engagement with our wider professional networks is supported and we have strong links to the Sheffield Clinical Psychology Doctorate course.Our site at Swallownest Court has community mental health teams and the senior management team co-located with inpatient services. We have ample free, well-lit parking (with electric car charging points available) and a gym which staff are free to use once they have been appropriately inducted.
