Job Description

The serviceprovides specialist housing, programmes and support services in the community for rough sleepers, homeless or those at risk of homelessness and single people with complex needs.About the role:The Engagement and Activities Worker will provide residents with 1-1 support as well as other key engagement activities, supporting them to further develop their talents and self-belief whilst managing their mental health and wellbeing. To be successfulin this role, you will support, inspire and motivate residents to develop the required skills to build confidence and move into safe, successful independent living within the community. You will also provide robust risk management, sharing information withrelevant partners to help keep your residents safe.Passionate about people, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to rehabilitate and reintegrate service users back into the community by providing pathways, support and appropriate interventions to enable successfulresettlements.You will required to work 37.5 hours per week, in a shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays, so youll need to be flexible with the hours you are able to work.About us:The Social Interest Group (SIG) is a leading UK based charity, providing bespoke person centred social and health care solutions. We deliver social and health care services through our subsidiary charities SIG Penrose, SIG Equinox, SIG Investments and Pathways to Independence.Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the service users are empowered at every reasonable opportunity to make decisions and take control over their life and service, unless this is clearly detrimental to their well-being.
  • To be creative in involving the service users in meetings which ensures they remain at the centre of the discussion and make choices and decisions.
  • Plan and co-ordinate individual support packages for the service user, liaising with the appropriate agencies and care professionals to ensure successful delivery of the plans.
  • Responsible for assessing psychological needs of service users and helping to implement appropriate psychological interventions.
  • As part of service users support plan, to liaise with external professionals, e.g. GPs, probation officer, Care Coordinators, Housing workers etc.
  • To promote service users rights and responsibilities, advice and information to service users and others, where appropriate.
  • To encourage service users to recognise, understand and begin to address factors which affect their wellbeing.
Skills Required:
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults who may have mental health issues / substance misuse / challenging chaotic behaviours
  • A good working understanding of homelessness and complex needs
  • On the job experience of drafting and agreeing support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professional to bring the plans to fruition
  • Understanding and practical knowledge interventions of the social and societal marginalisation can be attached to people with mental health issues and complex needs
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with both internally and externally with outside agencies and bodies
  • Sensitive to both clients and staff needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with the clients and supporting professional bodies
  • Able to work flexibly and co-operatively as part of a wider team
