Job Description

Ward Manager – Surgery (Vascular)Band 7The Surgical Division of Barking Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals (NHS Trust) (BHRUT) are recruiting a band 7 to manage one of its surgical wardsGeneral Surgery is offering you the opportunity to join our friendly, caring team. BHRUT has a team of highly trained, dedicated and experienced professionals across the two hospitals. The division is committed to providing high levels of training and education to staff and is also active in developing multidisciplinary team working and research development.We use and continue to develop minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques for many procedures.A full range of diagnostic assessment and treatment services are provided in our unit including emergency surgical services. Queens Hospital provides a comprehensive, round the clock, emergency vascular service. We provide a comprehensive range of general and specialist surgical services and are one of the largest and most specialised general surgical units in the country. These include Vascular Surgery, ENT Surgery, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, and Endocrine Surgery, Gastro & Colo-rectal surgery, Urology, Trauma & Orthopaedics and Breast surgery.As well as offering diverse experiences in Surgery, BHRUT is ideally suited for both hospital staff living locally and staff who like to commute to their place. BHRUT offers a close proximity to Britain’s capital City with London being approximately ½ hour away by public transport. Both hospitals are served well with excellent transport links.

  • Both Queens Hospital & King George Hospital are close to the A12.
  • The M25, M11 A13 & A406 are all within 5 miles of both hospitals which makes getting to and from BHRUT easy.
  • East Anglia train services run frequent services from London’ Liverpool Street out to Essex and East Anglia with mainline stations at both Romford & Goodmayes.
  • King Georges and both hospitals have bus terminus offering a variety of local bus routes and links to London Underground’ Central Line and District Line.
  • For those who enjoy regular breaks away, all of London’s airports are within a 1 hour drive of the hospitals. The East and South Coast are a short drive away and the European continent is easily accessible through ferry ports within 1-2 hour drive from both hospitals. The Eurostar & trains to Paris and Brussels are 30 – 45 minutes from Romford.Network Rail are building cross-rail connections that will link with the West of London and make the West Country and South Western counties and Wales easily accessible from Romford.You must have the ability to work as part of a Multidisciplinary team that ensures quality care remains at the centre of our service.
