Job Description

Location: Rochester Duration: 5 monthsResponsibilities

  • Ensure consistent high levels of House-keeping and Safety
  • Support the implementation of the companys Technical Risk Management covering Plant Status Review, Plant Modifications, Engineering Standards, Gensip Guidance and Strategic Spares.
  • Act as technical authority in relation to design standards, codes of practice and legalisation e.g. PSSR
  • Prepare, tender and execute major contracts in support of Mechanical Maintenance requirements of the stations.
  • Deliver Engineering Best Practice across all stations.
  • Ensure all Mechanical Engineering issues are progressed effectively.
  • Management of Process Safety KPIs associated with areas of responsibility
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering support to the Workshop team.
  • Provide supervision of Mechanical Maintenance work carried out during plant overhauls.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Mechanical Engineering strategy in line with the business plan.
  • Proactive and creative approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving.
  • Ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, on time, at or below budget, to the correct quality and within the environmental limits of the station.
  • Assist in the preparation for Mechanical Engineering budgets.
  • Participation in delivery of Major Overhauls.
  • Interface with the Thermal Technical Services team.
  • Maintain interfaces with suppliers, contractors and other parties.
  • Participate in work activities at different locations and travel within the gas region where the business need arises.
    • Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the Mechanical Engineering of large generating plant (CCGT desirable)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. health & safety, environment and employment law.
  • Knowledge of budgets and contract management.
  • Educated to Degree standard or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • IOSH certificate.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to handle multiple work projects running together as the business need arises
