Job Description

Role: Logistics and Customs ManagerSector: Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Logistics and PackagingPackage: £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary plus excellent benefitsLocation: Rochester, Kent, UKThe Company:This is a fantastic opportunity to join a global market leading supplier and maintenance provider of insulated and thermal containers. Our client provide temperature controlled solutions for the supply chain of Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Industrial supplies. Due to continued growth and expansion, they have created a new position to take the lead of all contract management.This company are dedicated to maintaining an excellent culture which fosters success, employee professional development, employee wellbeing and inclusivity.The OpportunityWe are currently looking for an Experienced Logistics & Customs Professional to strengthen support of our highly dynamic team. You will take up a senior role within the global service operations of the container rental business and will be the go-to expert for import/export and customs affairs in relation to the movement of our non-ULD air freight containers. Given the right experience and personality, there will be opportunities for personal growth within the Group.Customs related responsibilities:

  • Formulate customs compliance strategy as well as customs procedures and ensure customs compliance.
  • Assess customs risk and promote business improvement.
  • Organise research and analysis in order to define the most efficient customs process according to the import or export requirements.
  • Monitor the costs of customs and of compliance and suggest ways to optimise.
  • Build effective customs relationships globally.
  • Export and import custom declarations of company goods.
  • Support the global operations team with specific customs projects
    • Operations related responsibilities
  • Preparations of exports documents
  • Negotiations with transportation companies about rates and service levels
  • Evaluate transportation costs and other expenses
  • Manage special operations, research or logistics projects
  • In coordination with Operations Director initiating and implementing new or modified operational procedures and monitor those
    • The Candidate
  • You may currently be working in the import department of a freight forwarder or an airline and possess good knowledge of export and import of goods i.e. import license, LC, HS Code and Right use of HC Code etc. You have at least one full years hands-on experience handling customs clearance in a multinational environment.
  • You are familiar with import and export control policy, custom clearance process, customs evaluation, customs tariff and country of origin standard.
  • You possess refined analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ideally, you understand air cargo and the special needs and regulations in temperature-controlled transportation.
  • You like to work in a dynamic environment with a friendly and highly motivated team, have a "can do" attitude and are proficient in Excel. You are willing to undertake limited travel in Europe and worldwide.
