Job Description

Were looking for a Principal Analyst to grow and lead a new team of Data Analysts. We are offering flexible working from 28hrs (minimum) to 40 hours (maximum) per week. Remote working also available.The data tech stack in Footasylum has evolved significantly over the last year, giving us lots of opportunity to use data to better serve our customers and colleagues. We are growing our data team to enable us to unlock more value from the technology anddata we have invested in.We are looking for a Principal Analyst to join our growing Data team and lead the growth of our Analyst function, mentor the team and build effective practices and relationships to drive a data driven culture across the business.This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be able to build their own team, develop the analyst community of practice, define data standards across the organisation and be part of the leadership team driving the second phase of FootasylumsData Strategy including maturing a data science function. What you will do

  • Lead, grow and develop a team of Data Analysts within the Data Team.
  • Influence and contribute towards the next phase of our data strategy leading the contribution of your team.
  • Work proactively with product and business teams to identify important questions and help them answer these with data, delivering an insight service to the business through fit for purpose solutions
  • Work with business areas to understand and educate them on the power of data and what analysis support we can provide, become their trusted partner and remove reliance on third party insight providers.
  • Be the lead for product teams, the go-to expert for insight, overseeing the analyst delivery effort across the business.
  • Develop and implement plans to embed a self-service, data driven data culture ensuring data is at the forefront of decision making across product teams and the business.
  • Be a key player in maturing a new Data Science function in Data by identifying priority problem statements within the business which would be candidates for AI/ML, understand how we can support these within the data team
  • Work closely with the Principal Data Engineer and Principal BI Developer to drive best practices across the data team and wider business, identifying actions that move the architecture and decision making forward.
  • Work closely with the Principal Data Engineer and Principal BI Developer to drive the people agenda forward, empowering and developing your team to inspire and drive standard methodologies across different data technologies, finding new ways to solve emergingproblems.
  • Develop Data Analyst community of practice to share knowledge, evaluate opportunities and recommend improvements with other analysts across the business.
  • Create a learning culture by coaching and mentoring your team to make sound technical decisions and help build effective data practices, stabilising and optimising the data platform.
This is an exciting role for someone who ideally has;
  • A love for problem solving and highly analytical mindset.
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality analytics in a hands-on capacity
  • A level of proficiency in at least one scientific programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
  • Excellent SQL skills.
  • Good knowledge of data governance, data protection, and GDPR.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to Exec level.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience of developing and mentoring an Analyst function.
  • A background in technical leadership.
  • Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment alongside evolving the data tech stack and practices.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and how they can be used to solve modern business problems.
  • A relevant degree qualification with at least 5 years work experience.
  • Ideally experience in the Azure data estate and Power BI (not essential)
The Data Team The data team is an enabling team and as such it is important to note that we are an important function for both the tech teams and the business. By creating robust solutions that allows us to understand data from our multi-disciplinary teams through eitherevent-based data in our data lake or bringing in other datasets, we can create meaningful insights. Salary and benefits We are offering a salary between £60,000-£70,000 (based on full time hours) depending on experience, however, sometimes the right person is more experienced than we anticipated.
