Job Description

Were looking for a Delivery Manager to join Footasylum to help our development teams deliver value to the business.The role is currently fully remote but candidates with access to our Manchester and Rochdale offices are preferable for face-to-face meetings and workshops when safe to do so. Experience of working in a data team and managing the flow of work through the team is preferable.This is a challenging role for an experienced software delivery expert who can:

  • Support and motivate a development team in creating services used by millions of customers.
  • Coach team(s) and stakeholders in agile ways of working.
  • Identify, elaborate and track against clear and measurable objectives.
  • Communicate clearly with all levels of the business and bring together technical and non-technical conversations.
  • Identify, highlight and resolve any problems that might impact the ability of the team to deliver against objectives.
  • Form strong working relationships with business stakeholders and other members of the IT department.
  • Contribute to and support fellow Delivery roles across all our work streams through active participation and leadership in the Delivery Community of Practice.

A big part of this change is fostering a culture of being open and honest, collaborating, having fun and enabling psychological safety.We want to create a place for teams to do their best work, and youll have the opportunity to influence our decisions, help define standards across the teams and contribute to a healthy and happy working environment The Team Youll be working with the multi-disciplinary data team including Data Engineers, BI Developers and Analysts to plan and execute the delivery of the data roadmap, balancing this with other business and IT commitments. BAU requests will come from multiple stakeholders and areas of the business and so a robust process must be developed to accept and prioritise these and ensure the team are working on the most important thing.From time to time there will also be incidents that need triaging and managing to resolution. We believe in working in the open and effective communication with stakeholders in these scenarios will be critical.Heres some real examples of what other Delivery Managers have been working on recently, to give you an idea of other activities you might contribute to:
  • Working with key business stakeholders on a coordinated release plan for the relaunch of our loyalty scheme
  • Investigating new platforms to enhance our commerce, payments and returns services
  • Coaching teams on all aspects of the Scrum framework while facilitating the delivery of two-week cycles
  • Supporting senior-level priority discussions with risk, effort and impact assessments for requested work
  • Coordinating the integration and launch of a new platform with a third party supplier
  • We also swarm on issues with the wider teams if required using the equivalent of an Andon cord so people are alerted to and team up on fixes together. At every point, youll have the support of your team and the business to do the right thing with autonomy, mastery, and purpose.Above everything else, youll have the opportunity to influence our decisions, help define standards across the teams and contribute to a healthy and happy working environment. About You Within your current role youll have demonstrated excellent servant-leadership, helping to guide teams to successful delivery while working to enable and support in any way the team requires.You have a passion for quickly getting software in front of users that solves real problems. To ensure this youll be excellent at motivating the team to create and focus on small, well understood pieces of work.Within the team you constantly look for ways to improve team health and happiness, supporting personal skills growth and collaboration both within the team and across the business. Where the team needs additional support, you will be proactive in recognising and resolving with coaching, skills transfer, training or hiring. Most importantly you embrace transparency and open communication while ensuring a collaborative, no-blame culture within the team.As an expert in agile delivery, you will bring a clear understanding of various delivery methodologies and a pragmatic approach that enables you to see beyond the ceremonies to tailor the way the team is working to maximise their impact. You will also be a passionate voice for continuous improvement, both in the daily operations of the team and within the Delivery community, fiercely guarding and teaching Agile principles and values and ensuring that every level of the business understands the value and safety that is delivered by doing so.You will be proactive at engaging stakeholders and will be comfortable having conversations about scope and delivery timescales with senior members of the organisation. You will take responsibility for setting and attaining goals for the team. Where necessary you will be comfortable organising and facilitating workshops to share knowledge and resolve issues.With the uncertainties facing the retail sector now, youll need to be willing and able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities as new opportunities are identified, keeping the team engaged throughout. Salary & Benefits Were offering a salary of up to £60,000 for the right person, which we assess based on your own experiences, delivery skills and against the principles of our department and our ways of working.
