Job Description

The objective of the data team is to empower the business by using data over opinions and to create efficiencies across the business using machine learning. The data tech stack in Footasylum has evolved significantly over the last year, giving us lots of opportunity to use data to better serve our customers and colleagues. We are growing our data team to enable us to unlock more value from the technology we have invested in.We are looking for Data Engineers to join our growing Data Engineering function to help transform the way we do business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join a progressive, supportive company and be part of the team driving the second phase of Footasylums Data Strategy. What you will do

  • Design, build and run enterprise data solutions within our Azure data platform.
  • Develop data pipelines using Microsoft Azure technologies and languages.
  • Influence the next phase of our data strategy, contributing to the physical data architecture and engineering roadmap.
  • Work in a collaborative DevOps culture building continuous integration, automation, safety and quality into everything you do
  • Take the lead on nominated projects and work closely with business areas to understand their problems, and design solutions.
  • Develop relationships with other areas of the business through the data engineering community of practice to share knowledge, evaluate opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to establish a self-service data culture and work with business areas to embed this.
    • This is an exciting role for someone who ideally has;
  • Cloud technology experience (ideally Azure).
  • Understanding of data warehouse principles.
  • Experience in building data pipelines and contributing to data architecture and physical data models.
  • Experience in languages such as SQL, Powershell
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary team delivering modern data architecture.
  • Thirst to evolve your skill set in line with new emerging technologies and trends.

The Data Team The data team is an enabling team and as such it is important to note that we are an important function for both the tech teams and the business. By creating robust solutions that allows us to understand data from our multi-disciplinary teams through either event based data in our data lake or bringing in other datasets, we can create meaningful insights.The data team have made incredible progress to complete a migration from a traditional on-premise data warehouse to a data lake hosted in Azure. They use Data Factory to create pipelines to push data into the Data Lake, Synapse and SQL DBs to build the reporting cubes and streaming analytics to provide real-time sales and stores dashboards to the business. Salary & Benefits We are offering a day rate of up to £450 for the right person, which we assess based on your own experiences, delivery skills and against the principles of our department and our ways of working.
