Job Description

Assistant Buyer - Christmas / SeasonalCommutable from Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, etcImporter**This role would suit an experienced Buying Assistant looking for the next step or an Assistant Buyer looking for more involvement in Product Development**My Client is a well-established Importer of a diverse range of products, supplying the retail industry including: Home, Garden, Pet, etcThey are looking for a talented, motivated, numerate and organised individual to join our dynamic Buying team as an Assistant Buyer in their Christmas / Seasonal Category. Your role will be to provide accurate and comprehensive administrative support to therequired deadlines. The right candidate will develop within the category and will hopefully find the opportunity of overseas travel and product sourcing becoming part of your role.Duties include:

  • Create new products and maintain data integrity on in-house system.
  • Calculate landed costs and compare pricing and product options from multiple suppliers to establish the best option.
  • Raise and manage Purchase Orders whilst liaising with overseas offices.
  • Producing ad hoc reports and gathering information as instructed by the Buyer.
  • Monitoring stock levels, forward orders and rates of sale to help maintain healthy stocks.
  • Review and maintain the Critical Path whilst updating the in-house system accordingly.
  • Managing Sample process, involving requesting, reviewing and managing all samples for the category.
  • Research the market and apply your knowledge in the development of new products.
  • Ensure the Pricing process is completed efficiently and accurately on behalf of the Buyer.
  • Carry out the accurate filing and maintenance of all required records in line with company procedures.
  • Attend meetings and take comprehensive and detailed notes and actions.
  • Attend trade shows at home and abroad to promote product and meet new and existing customers.
Candidates should be experienced within a Buying function in an Importer - with knowledge of the Far East supply chain.Key Skills:
  • You will be analytical and numerate with a high degree of accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
  • It is essential that you are motivated and methodical with the ability to multi-task and prioritise your own workload, working to the required deadlines.
  • You will utilise your excellent communication skills both internally as you work cross-functionally with other teams and externally as you liaise with our overseas offices.
  • You’ll be PC literate on Excel & Microsoft Office.
  • You will be able to challenge where appropriate and influence others.
  • You will be commercially aware.
  • There will be an occasional requirement to attend trade shows or similar which may take place at weekends. The chance of overseas travel in the future is also a possibility.
